About the role

The role provides technical advice and support to ensure that WWF's work addresses the human dimensions of conservation, advancing our application of the social sciences intersection with WWF’s environmental conservation strategy and plans. Contributing to WWF’s wider vision of a New Deal for People and Nature, which places equity at the heart of our work, this role informs WWF's conservation approaches to influence conservation sensitive attitudes, knowledge and behaviours that achieve effective solutions to environmental problems. The role works across a diverse range of conservation programs to set clear social objectives, methodologies, and utilises best practice social science tools to inform conservation planning, monitoring and evaluation.

Skills, knowledge and experience

• Significant expertise and experience in applying social science to conservation and/or social development including a strong understanding of participatory research, design, monitoring and evaluation.
• Experience working at the interface of social and environmental challenges with a demonstrated ability to take an interdisciplinary lens.
• Technical and analytical skills to monitor, measure, and report on the social dimensions affecting and affected by conservation and sustainable development programs including familiarity with qualitative and quantitative approaches,
• Experience using research findings to generate actionable insights and drive a wider impact.
• Knowledge of ethical research practice including research with indigenous communities and/or local communities.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills, with an ability to interpret and communicate research findings and technical concepts to both technical and lay audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a flexible team based environment, with an ability to connect and work constructively with stakeholders to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Ideally, you will have practical experience supporting community-led co-design processes and an understanding of, and support for, workplace sustainability principles.
