The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (the Institute) is dedicated to finding cures for cardiovascular disease and is one of the most respected heart research facilities in the world. Renowned for the quality of its breakthroughs, the Institute was established in 1994 and has grown to a team of more than 200 researchers from around the globe, working across five divisions.

A global centre-of-excellence, it integrates Cardiac Physiology and Transplantation, Developmental and Stem Cell Biology, Molecular Cardiology and Biophysics, Structural and Computational Biology, as well as Vascular Biology. At the Institute, we translate our discoveries into new diagnostics, prevention, and treatment of cardiovascular disease - reducing the incidence, severity, and impact of heart disease. 

The role

The Research Grants Officer works under the guidance of the Research Grants and Development Manager and is responsible for assisting with the compliance and management of all Grants and Fellowships for the Institute.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to manage the day-to-day operational aspects of the grant support process (post-award) and assist students and postdoctoral fellows with identifying and applying for funding opportunities.

This is a full-time, permanent role.

What we will trust you with

• Managing the grant support process, end-to-end (post-award).
• Building and maintaining relationships with relevant external bodies to manage post-award processes.
• Maintaining the grants management system in keeping accurate records of all grants managed at the Institute.
• Communicate with researchers and executive leadership to provide timely advice and obtain required approvals.
• Contribute to information dissemination on the Intranet and in Institute-wide and targeted emails.
• Evaluating and interpreting complex policies and procedures.

We would like to meet you if you have:

• Tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience and/or education/training.
• Sound working knowledge of computing applications including database management systems.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to evaluate and interpret complex information and policies.
• Ability to work autonomously and proactively while also being able to work as part of a wider team.
• Excellent administrative and organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines.
