The role

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join our Regulatory Systems Lab. The successful candidate will contribute to various research projects by designing and conducting experiments, analysing data, and assisting with lab management tasks. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of molecular biology and data science in a dynamic research environment.

What we will trust you with

  • Design and conduct computational and wet lab experiments independently.
  • Assist colleagues and students with experimental work.
  • Analyse experimental data using statistical approaches.
  • Present research findings and contribute to scientific publications.
  • Train new staff and students in laboratory techniques.
  • Maintain lab inventory and oversee reagent ordering.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety protocols.
  • Organise and coordinate lab meetings.

Does this sound like you?

  • Undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and Data Science.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R, Unix, and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g., qPCR, cloning, Western blotting).
  • Familiarity with transgenic studies in animals and comparative genetics bioinformatics.
  • Strong communication and data analysis skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of gene regulation and health and safety protocols.

Desirable skills

  • Experience or interest in evolutionary biology and epigenetics.
  • Previous experience with zebrafish.
  • Publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
