This Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Honours graduate to join the laboratory of Professor Diane Fatkin. As a research assistant in the Molecular Cardiology and Biophysics Division, you will support a dynamic team of scientists studying genetic causes of heart disease both in human cohorts and zebrafish animal models. The ideal candidate will have experience in zebrafish research. Small animal echocardiography experience is highly desirable.

This is a maternity leave replacement role and available on a part-time or full-time capacity from December 2017.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to generation and maintenance of genetically-modified zebrafish lines
  • Cardiac function analysis using high frequency echocardiography
  • Analysis of heart structure using histological techniques 

Skills Required

  • Molecular biology skills
  • Small animal echocardiography experience
  • Experience in zebrafish husbandry

Salary

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Attractive salary packaging and superannuation options are available.
