Professor Robyn Jamieson, Head of the Eye Genetics Research Unit at the Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI), is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist wishing to pursue a career in novel genetic ocular therapy and functional genomics research. The research will focus on investigation of disease mechanisms and novel therapies for genetic ocular diseases, especially of the retina. Genetic variants and candidate therapies will be investigated using human induced pluripotent stem cell and other model systems. CMRI is a leader in functional genomics and therapy research in Australia with several state-of-the-art facilities including those dedicated to: Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells; Vector and Genome Engineering; Bioinformatics; Advanced Image Analysis; Murine Retinal Analysis; and Biomedical Proteomics.
Applicants must hold a PhD in molecular, cellular or developmental biology, and additional experience in these fields will be an advantage. Experience in genome engineering and stem cell biology would be extremely valuable. Experience in advanced microscopy and image analysis would be desirable. Experience in biochemical assay development would be valuable. Expertise in bioinformatics and human genetics would be an advantage.
The successful candidate must be organized with data collection, meeting presentations and composition of study publications. They must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be working in a creative, team environment demanding team-orientated execution of time-dependent experiments.
