Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) was Australia’s first dedicated paediatric research facility and is now one of the nation’s most highly regarded independent medical research centres.  Our research focuses on the areas of embryonic development and birth defects, cancer, neuroscience and gene therapy and we have a strong international reputation based on our research outcomes. ProCan

ProCan, the ACRF International Centre for the Proteome of Human Cancer, was established at CMRI in 2016.  It is a major new program that applies innovative technology to analyse the protein content of small tissue samples. The goal of ProCanâis to complete a comprehensive proteomic analysis of all cancer types to improve diagnosis, and to enable more precise recommendations for the effective treatment of cancer patients. ProCan plans to analyse around 70,000 adult and children’s cancers over the next 5-7 years with a view to rapid translation of research findings into clinical practice.

ProCan LIMS and Quality Manager

We are now seeking to appoint an experienced Laboratory Manager who will oversee selection, implementation and operation of a Laboratory Information System (LIMS) for ProCan.The role will also be responsible for design and implementation of a Quality System that is fully integrated with the LIMS and other workflows. These systems will support our evolving dynamic laboratory practice and assist ProCan to achieve NATA accreditation in the future. A role in liaison with external collaborator groups is also required.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor of Science /Biomedical Science or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in clinical pathology or research laboratory management
  • Experience managing LIMS and / or quality systems
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards and other regulations relevant to high-throughput biomedical laboratory testing
  • Record of achievement in managing complex projects in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
