Creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally, and globally, James Cook University (JCU) is now looking to appoint an Infectious Disease Modeler. This is a full-time, 3 yr fixed-term opportunity based at the JCU Townsville Bebegu Yumba Campus. However, we are open to considering applications for our JCU Cairns Nguma-bada Campus or remote work arrangements.
How you’ll make a difference
Working collaboratively with researchers at AITHM, JCU and Northern Queensland Health Services, you will provide mathematical modelling of tuberculosis, vector=borne diseases and emerging infectious diseases. This will entail both theoretical models and analysis of data.. Additionally, you will also be involved with research training of doctoral students, supervision of postgraduate students, publication of manuscripts and preparation of grant applications to establish new research projects.
What you’ll bring
You will have completed, or be near completion of a PhD degree in a quantitative field such as physics, engineering, applied mathematics, computational biology, ecology, computer science, clinical epidemiology, health economics, machine learning, bioinformatics or biostatistics. You can demonstrate a research record reflective of your level and interests and have experience in using programming language for analysis and simulation. You will laso have the ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships and collaborate with people from a wide range of research and fields.
