We offer an exciting opportunity for an Associate Lecturer, Immunology & Infectious Disease to join our world-leading institution at James Cook University (JCU). A fixed term appointment to June 2018 with part time hours of 18.125 per week, this position is based at the Townsville campus in picturesque tropical north Queensland, where you can enjoy a tropical lifestyle whilst still achieving your career goals.
About the position
Joining a dynamic team of professionals, you will contribute to undergraduate teaching of Immunology across a broad range of courses including integrated Medical and Veterinary Curricula; Biomedical Sciences; Medical Laboratory Science; Pharmacy; Nursing; and Dentistry.
Key duties:
- Contribute to the continued development and quality assurance of the teaching of immunology;
- Contribute to the teaching of immunology to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in multiple programs offered across the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine.
- Be actively involved in professional activity(s) to remain current in the relevant disciplinary field and in academic skills.
About you
As an enthusiastic Immunologist you will have a postgraduate qualification in a relevant area of science and will enjoy playing an active role in ensuring continuous quality improvement of curriculum, teaching resources and learning/ teaching approaches.
You will also have:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders;
- Enthusiasm and willingness to contribute to the immunology / infectious disease teaching programme in the Disciple of Biomedicine;
- Evidence of commitment to quality learning and teaching at a tertiary level.

The Discipline of Biomedicine is a multidisciplinary hub within the College of Public Health, Medical & Veterinary Sciences, in the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine at James Cook University. The aim of the Discipline is to bring together researchers in biology and medicine, as well as clinicians and health workers from across the northern region, whose research has implications for the prevention, detection or treatment of diseases relevant to Indigenous health and the tropical communities.
