Research Fellowship: Governing for resilience and equity in small-scale fisheries
The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies is an internationally renowned research centre encompassing >200 researchers and graduate students, with ongoing research projects in 30 countries. WorldFish is an international non-profit scientific agency working in Africa, Asia and the Pacific to ‘reduce poverty and hunger through improving fisheries and aquaculture’. WorldFish has a global staff of about 330, permanent offices in 7 countries and ongoing projects in 25 countries.
WorldFish and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies have common interests in improving the governance of fisheries. We are seeking an early to mid-career postdoctoral Research Fellow with expertise in geography, development studies, politics, economics, sociology, and/or law or a cognate discipline. This position provides the opportunity for an exceptional candidate to pursue research in food security, equity and/or resilience in small-scale fisheries. The position benefits from an exceptional mix of research excellence, policy relevance, and access to development networks.
This is a research-only position (full time or part time), and successful applicants must have a PhD with an exceptional track record for their stage of career. Previous experience in coral reefs and fisheries is not essential. The position will be based at James Cook University in Townsville.
Employment Type: Appointment will be full-time for a fixed term of three years (or equivalent) in the first instance.
Salary: Academic Level A - $79,942 - $85,546 per annum; Academic Level B - $89,858 - $106,028 per annum. Level of appointment and commencing salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience.
