Research Project Support Officer NAL

About the National Acoustic Laboratories (NAL)

We are seeking an energetic Research Project Support Officer to join our NAL team. This role will be responsible for supporting research project delivery and will be a key part of the monitoring and reporting activities of the PMO. This is a great opportunity for a person with experience in research or general administration to come to an organisation with purpose.

The ideal candidate will have experience working across a range of projects or initiatives and be eager to learn new skills. This role will be supported by colleagues in a highly engaged and solution-focused PMO, and work closely with NAL’s researchers and leadership team.

The key responsibilities of the role include: 

  • Support research project teams to ensure successful achievement of project objectives and milestones. By providing logistical and administrative support 
  • Support steering committee and research council meetings, including preparing agendas, minutes and follow-up on actions 
  • Assist the Project Management Office (PMO) by providing support with monitoring and reporting 
  • Support project compliance with organizational policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulations 
  • Assist the Operations and Finance Manager in various administrative tasks, including coordinating invoices and preparing basic financial reports 
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the optimization of project support procedures 

Skills, Knowledge & Experience: 

  • Experience in administration  
  • Strong written and verbal skills 
  • Experience working across a range of initiatives or projects simultaneously  
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high level organisational and time-management skills 
  • Experience working in a research environment is desirable 

We will require the successful candidate to be willing to have a Police Check conducted (we pay) and must have rights to work in Australia.
