Salary: $98,775 to $117,290 p.a. plus 9.5% superannuation
The Australian Venom Research Unit (AVRU), University of Melbourne, has a full-time position for a dynamic, highly motivated and innovative postdoctoral research fellow. This new position provides the opportunity to develop and lead AVRU’s Information, Communications and Engagement programme. In addition, the successful candidate will manage an ongoing public health research project on venomous injury that is a cornerstone of AVRU’s national research focus.
This role areas of responsibility include: research project planning, development and implementation; research interpretation, translation and communication; and development of public health policy, tools and resources. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to translate complex scientific information into an accurate and engaging format that connects with diverse audiences, are essential. Experience in epidemiology, biostatistics or GIS analysis of health data would be an advantage. A PhD degree in the biomedical or life sciences, or another relevant discipline, is essential. A Master of Public Health degree and proven public health research experience is desirable, and previous experience working in public health, accident/injury prevention or surveillance, health communications, research translation, clinical medicine or toxicology would be highly regarded.
