Regional Research Agronomist

REGIONAL RESEARCH AGRONOMIST

  • $92,253 – $111,619 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed Term, Three Years
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: Mildura (flexibility may be available)

The position of Regional Research Agronomist is part of the Agriculture Victoria Research Division’s Plant Production Sciences Branch in the Employment, Investment & Trade Group.

The Employment, Investment and Trade Group delivers programs and services to grow the Victorian economy.  Its focus is on creating jobs and raising incomes through industry development, targeted investment and increasing the export value of Victorian firms.

In this position, you will –

  • Work in the low rainfall grain production zone of southern Australia.
  • Develop regional access to agronomy skills.
  • Improve adoption of research outcomes by industry.
  • Design and implement crop agronomy field trails and demonstrations.

The successful applicant will have extensive research and development experience in grain production agronomy in low rainfall zones, and an awareness of production issues.  They will have broad experience of research, development and practice change principles and practices applicable to the grains sector, and be an experienced project manager.  Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills are needed, as are well-developed oral and written communication skills.  A degree in science, agricultural science, or an equivalent science qualification relevant to grain crop production is required for this position.
