Research Scientist

RESEARCH SCIENTIST

  • $78,773 - $89,375 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed Term
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)

The position of Research Scientist is part of the Agriculture Victoria Research Division in the Agriculture and Resources Group.

The Agriculture and Resources Group works with industry, primary producers, urban and regional communities to improve liveability and drive sustainable economic growth in the food and fibre, natural resources and energy sectors.

As a member of the Soil Sciences team, you will investigate soil and plant processes associated with subsoil amelioration, soil fertility, and nutrient management and crop productivity in southern Australia, undertaking experiments in the laboratory, controlled environments and in the field.  You will assist in the design and conduct of experiments, including data collection, collating and analysing data, and preparing scientific publications and reports.  This position provides the opportunity to work collaboratively with a range of people.

The position requires good knowledge of research practices to study soil processes and the affect they have on crop productivity.  The successful applicant will need to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team, be self-motivated, well organised, able to innovate and have a passion to undertake world class R & D that improves the profitability and sustainability of the Australian grains industry.
