Are you passionate about enhancing and building new growth opportunities for students? We are seeking a driven and innovative Engagement Manager to join us in this exciting collaborative role to lead sustainable partnerships and help develop various CSIRO STEM programs.

Managed by CSIRO Education and Outreach (CEdO) unit, Generation STEM is a long-term initiative working with industry, government and education sectors to attract, support, train and retain students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) career pathways. As part of this initiative, we currently have three programs being delivered throughout NSW:

• STEM Community Partnerships Program (STEM CPP) – focuses on creating strong partnerships between local schools and industry, with the goal of highlighting local STEM careers and opportunities.
• Deadly in Generation STEM – aims to increase participation of NSW Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students in STEM, through Culture and on Country.
• Generation STEM Links – focuses on improving the transition to employment, by providing internships to help tertiary students gain relevant workplace skills, and transition into STEM jobs after graduation.

As the Engagement Manager, you will play a key role in building sustainable and collaborative networks with a range of industry partners. You will use your business development and stakeholder management skills to contribute to the leadership of the program with a particular focus on increasing industry and participant engagement. Your role will have a focus of developing and implementing engagement strategies to boost participation across all Generation STEM’s programs, and will be responsible for building & maintaining ongoing relationships with external organisations to promote the programs and increase their longevity and sustainability.

Your duties will include:

• Undertaking a key leadership and engagement role, identifying and progressing opportunities for the program or CEdO more broadly to engage with and build strategic relationships with, and networks amongst, external stakeholders.
• Establishing and maintaining effective ongoing relationships and networks with key industry and educational stakeholders, including promotion of the program and increasing participation.
• Developing effective stakeholder engagement strategies including setting strategic goals, determining approach and actions to achieve them, and leading implementation.
• Applying an innovative mindset to addressing stakeholder engagement challenges, and developing new and creative approaches to ultimately engage stakeholders.
• Contributing in a collegiate manner to strategic planning and reporting of the program, including monitoring & evaluation processes.
• Coaching and mentoring project officers to develop their effective relationship management skills.

Location: Sydney, NSW
Salary: AU$102K – AU$111K pa + up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Specified Term until 31 December 2023; Full-time (preferred)

To be considered you will need:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in STEM, education, commerce/business, program management and/or equivalent significant relevant work experience.
• Experience developing strategic relationships and/or partnerships across senior stakeholder groups, including developing and implementing effective stakeholder engagement strategies and communicating with diverse clients from the industry/business sector.
• Highly developed engagement and networking skills including experience with negotiation and proven ability to facilitate collaboration.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills with a track record of contributing to, and supporting, cohesive teams.
• Demonstrated project management skills including the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
• A valid Australian Class C driver’s licence.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this role, you must be currently residing in Australia as an:

• Australian/New Zealand Citizen;
• Australian Permanent Resident; or
• Australian Temporary Resident, with an existing valid visa and unrestricted work rights for the duration of the term (until December 2023) and no requirement for visa sponsorship from CSIRO. Please note this does not include bridging visas or other visas that are dependent upon the approval of potential future visas.

Appointment to this role is subject to provision of a national police check and may be subject to other security/medical/character requirements. Given the nature of the role, the successful candidate must hold, or be able to obtain, a valid working with children check prior to confirmation of appointment.

To enter a CSIRO site, CSIRO will require you to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (or show a valid medical exemption from vaccination). If you are unable to meet this requirement, then you must return a negative result on a Rapid Antigen Test (within 48 hours prior to attending site) and wear a face mask whilst on the CSIRO site. These requirements apply if you are attending a CSIRO site as part of a recruitment process.
