CSIRO has created an exciting new role for a Social Media Manager to join the Editorial and Content team within Corporate Affairs. 

You will play a key role in driving engagement across the organisation’s social media channels. You will deliver strategic, creative, and data-driven content across a range of existing and new channels. You will have solid experience in managing social content, issues, and community for a leading brand. As you’ll be supporting a small team, your previous experience in leading or mentoring others will be key to your success in this role.  

Your passion for all things digital, CSIRO and science will help bring your creative ideas to life. You’ll innovate, optimise and be strategic in adapting to the ever-changing digital environment. Your curiosity and understanding of social media trends and new innovations will see you well placed to join this creative (and fun!) team.

Your duties will include:

  • Driving the development and delivery of CSIRO’s social media strategy, including planning and implementation. 
  • Collaborating to create content for digital platforms (csiro.au, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, blogs and YouTube) to support delivery of the Corporate Affairs strategy. 
  • Researching, writing, and editing content including blog posts, social media posts, video scripts, and web copy. 
  • Developing and improving our community management strategy and integration. 
  • Managing our Sprinklr platform, including working with an external agency to deliver services to internal stakeholders.  
  • Analysing metrics and making recommendations based on audience, new opportunities, and key growth areas. 
  • Providing training and advice on digital and social media. 
  • Liaising with digital agencies and service providers as required. 
  • Other duties as directed 

Location: Melbourne VIC, Canberra ACT, Adelaide, SA or Brisbane, QLD preferred, with other East Coast locations considered
Salary: AU$102k - AU$111k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree in Communication, Science, PR, or Digital/Social, or related field.  
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate science or technical stories in a digital and social environment. 
  • Demonstrated creative and strategic thinking as well as a flexible, adaptive and responsive approach in an ever-changing media environment. 
  • Experience in community management, stakeholder engagement and managing issues in a social environment.  
  • Experience contributing to an integrated digital and social strategy, including audiences, channels and tactics.  
  • Experience leading, managing or mentoring small teams.  
  • Experience in data analytics, including audience, measurement and research. 
  • High level written and oral communication skills including excellent editing and proofreading capabilities. 
    Desirable:
  • Experience in Sprinklr or comparable social media management platforms. 
  • Experience in Sitecore or comparable content management systems
