CSIRO is seeking an experienced and motivated Research Scientist to join our Land and Water business unit and deliver to CSIRO’s Hydrogen Energy Systems Future Science Platform (FSP)!
CSIRO’s FSPs address new scientific challenges for Australia. CSIRO’s Hydrogen Energy Systems FSP targets three impact areas: Next generation production; Novel carrier pathways; and Triple bottom line research (the environmental, social, and economic case for hydrogen energy). The purpose of the FSP is to create new science, capabilities, and technologies across the emerging hydrogen value chain, supporting new Australian industries and large-scale emissions reduction.
In this role, you will evaluate the technical feasibility of recovering ammonia from wastewater centrate as a resource using bipolar membrane electrodialysis (BPMED); evaluate the effect of process parameters on the efficiency of the process; optimise BPMED configuration and operating conditions; develop efficient fouling control strategies and determine the energy efficiency of the PBMED process. You will bring your research experience in developing new technologies for wastewater & drinking water treatment, contaminant removal and/or value recovery, to lead research projects, liaise with internal & external stakeholders and develop effective research plans.
Location: Perth, WA (please note this role will commence at the Floreat site and will transfer to Waterford in 2022/2023)
Salary: AU$117K – AU$138K + up to 15.4% superannuation
