Digital Research Curator - Australian National Wildlife Collection (ANWC)
CSIRO acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land, sea and waters, of the areas that we live and work on across Australia. We acknowledge their continuing connection to their culture and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. View our vision towards reconciliation
CSIRO’s Australian National Wildlife Collection (ANWC, Canberra) is among the largest and most data-rich collections of Australian and Papua New Guinean terrestrial vertebrates in the world. The collection is an important component of CSIRO’s National Research Collections Australia (NRCA) and is critical to the future of vertebrate biodiversity research in Australia. The staff and affiliates of the ANWC manage and improve the collections and conduct research in Australian vertebrate taxonomy, systematics, biogeography, population genetics and related fields.
For success in this role, you will draw on your experience in natural history collections and, preferably, the application of digital technologies in this domain. Your contribution to our innovative research programs will not only enhance online access of those resources, but it will also build a more completely integrative understanding of the biology of Australian vertebrates. You will help guide NRCA’s Digitisation team in developing pathways that will, in turn, integrate ANWC collections into global initiatives to build digital collection assets from the ANWC’s skeletal, egg, nest, study skin, frozen tissue and histological slide collections. Whilst providing guidance to collection management staff in the digital curation and management of the collection, you will also make a strong contribution to our research and its dissemination to the global research community.
