The role of a Technical Floor Space (TFS) Infrastructure Specialist is currently open within CSIRO Information & Management Technology (IMT). The position will be based in Canberra ACT. This position is part of the Technical Floor Space Infrastructure team, Scientific Computing in IMT, to provide oversight, support and management of CSIRO’s Technical Floor Space facilities.  Technical Floor Space includes CSIRO IMT managed National Data Centres (DCs), Metro Data Centres, and smaller Comms/Server rooms located across Australia.

Your duties will include:

  • Provide ‘hands on’ practical skillsets, technical analysis, support, and management of the Technical Floor Space and Data Centres supporting CSIRO’s ICT Infrastructure, across all regions within Australia.  Inter-state travel may be required.
  • Manage minor projects and work packages, to include project planning, SOW, budgeted costs, timeframes, contractors, and regular reporting to implement service improvements for CSIRO’s Technical Floor Space and DC’s.
  • Provide fundamental System Administration skills to support software services and applications used by the Technical Floor Space team.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with all staff, clients and suppliers in the interests of good business practice, collaboration and enhancement of CSIRO’s reputation.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary, often regionally dispersed technical support team, to carry out tasks under general direction of Senior Technical staff.
  • Actively develop and improve personal technical skills and training to support CSIRO’s Technical Floor Space and Data Centres (DCs)
  • You will be requested to travel interstate to CSIRO sites approximatively every 3 months

Salary: AU$87 069 - AU$98 504 plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  • Relevant trade certificate/diploma/bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience in IT or related discipline
  • A current driver’s licence
  • Demonstrated understanding and involvement in the ‘hands on’ support, maintenance, and monitoring of Technical Floor Space, including proven contractor management capability.
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge and proficient troubleshooting skills in relation to Technical Floor Space infrastructure technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, including an ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams and carry out tasks under general direction from Senior Technical Staff.
  • The ability & willingness to contribute new ideas and approaches in support of Enterprise Infrastructure, Scientific Compute systems, Technical Floor Space and Data Centres.
