As the Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) Specialist, you will join a team based in the Microscopy Facility in the Manufacturing Business Unit. This Facility is focused on characterisation of samples for research projects within CSIRO and externally. Samples vary significantly in atomic mass, from hard to soft materials as well as biological specimens. CSIRO has access to externally based FIB SEMs required for lamellae production of specialised samples for TEM analysis.
You will support the operation of the TEM including oversight and maintenance. As the successful candidate, you will prepare and process samples for analysis using TEM (including cryo TEM), interpret images and analytical results for various applications such as slow drug release to material identification/properties. Through your collaborations with external facilities, you will significantly increase CSIRO’s TEM advantage through developing and expanding capabilities.
To be successful, you will possess a high level of technical skill and an understanding of the underlying physics principles to allow continuous development (capability, equipment and preparatory) for the optimum operation of the TEM.
