The Position

CSIRO Energy is seeking to appoint a Research Scientist/Engineer with expertise in coal preparation to work in our Coal Mining and Processing Technologies program at QCAT in Brisbane.

As the successful candidate, you will play a key leadership role within CSIRO’s coal preparation research team. You will work on a range of applied research projects with a focus on projects relating to coal preparation, mine waste, and the development of new or improved processes.

Your duties will include

• Develop, design and deliver client-focussed research projects, or components of large-scale research initiatives
• Work as part of the wider research group on key experimental or modelling aspects of research projects
• Act as a trusted advisor, utilising knowledge of client’s business and understanding of their underlying needs. 

Location:      Pullenvale QLD
Salary:          AU$111,663 - AU$130,848 plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure:         Indefinite

To be successful you will need

• Relevant PhD or equivalent relevant work experience in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or similarly relevant areas
• Demonstrated practical experience in coal preparation and industrial unit operations.
• A good understanding of the fundamentals of the coal washing processes.
• A track record of developing and delivering large client-focussed research projects
