In this prestigious role, under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer, you will work closely with researchers, engineers and business teams to manage the Data61 Challenge Program. The program aims to work collaboratively with partners across CSIRO, in industry and the University sector to solve some of Australia’s biggest challenges including but not limited to Supply Chain Integrity, Data Driven Urban Management, Precision Healthcare, Smart Exploration, Cyber Physical Security and other major issues that have significant Social, Economic, Environmental and Scientific impact for the Nation.

Your duties will include
  • Responsibility and oversight for all Challenge projects across the program
  • Oversight of project deliverables and milestones and reporting
  • Responsibility for the management of governance in relation to the administration of the Challenge Program
  • Representing the Data61 Challenge Program at various internal and external forum
  • Leading the Data61 Challenge Program across CSIRO and be the key liaison point for all business units
  • Engaging with partner universities to build strong collaboration and grow the network
  • Managing all financial aspects of the program
Location: Negotiable
Salary: AU$160K - $201K + up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Specified term of 3 years

To be successful you will need
  • Tertiary qualifications in data science or a similar discipline.
  • Proven experience managing large scale multi-disciplinary R&D projects and ability to lead high performing teams and a collaborative and cohesive work environment.
  • The ability to clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas to individuals and groups.
  • The ability to consult and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes and manage strategic relationships.
  • Sound knowledge of governance procedures and policies within a complex working environment.
  • Broad domain experience.
  • Strong Project Management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in commercialisation or licensing of technology.
  • Ability to develop market roadmaps that lead to revenue generation and impact.
