Executive Manager, CSIRO Business and Infrastructure Services - North, East Region

  • Drive consistency in terms of service delivery and functional performance with customers across CSIRO

  • Represent CBIS for a specific grouping of states or territories with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Ensure a quality and consistent approach to CBIS Property Strategy, management of Portfolio Assets and provision of CBIS services

The Regional Executive Manager represents CSIRO Business & Infrastructure Services (CBIS) for their specific grouping of states or territories with both internal and external stakeholders and with the intent of ensuring a quality and consistent approach to the CBIS Property Strategy, management of Portfolio Assets and provision of CBIS Services is maintained within their Region and in a manner consistent with the advice provided by the other Region and other CBIS departments.

The proposed top line structure for CBIS reflects two regional clusters with one Executive Manager having oversight for each cluster and should help to shift the focus of CBIS leadership towards the regions where the internal customer and physical infrastructure resides.

The role and capability of the Executive Managers in the regions is leadership and oversight rather than management. The purpose of this is to drive consistency in terms of service delivery and functional performance with customers across CSIRO. This will allow greater collaboration as both Executive Managers will need to work closely together to ensure desired consistency of service delivery across both clusters - this includes maintaining key relationships.  State Managers will need to ensure they’re also collaborating further with each other to drive the consistency across states, again including their key relationships on site.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Agreeing to, and implementing, consistent practices including a Service Charter, and encourage continuous improvement in service delivery to customers.
  • Determining the allocation of the annual Repairs and Maintenance budgets based on input from State/ Territory managers.
  • Oversight of capital works in their region (time, cost, scope deliverables) with project managers for major works reporting directly to them once they are allocated by Project Advisory to specific projects.
  • Talent / succession management and staff development across regions (shared outcome).
  • General budget oversight of the States/Territories in their area.

Location: Sydney NSW

To be successful you will need:

  • Strong leadership and business acumen with the ability to set customer expectations, drive and deliver on hard line outcomes through managers and teams often within tight timeframes.
  • Demonstrated ability to think laterally and strategically with a high level of judgment and problem solving particularly through ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated experience in change management, leading projects and fostering a culture committed to adaptability, diversity and inclusion and customer centric compliance with continuous improvement.
  • Highly-developed strategic planning skills, including the capacity to balance short and long term perspectives.
