What you'll be doing
  • The Research Governance Officer (RGO) is a key position within the Research Office and is responsible for undertaking comprehensive reviews of all research governance activities such as Site Specific Applications (SSAs) and other research related contracts such as the Clinical Trials Agreements.   
  • This position is responsible for contributing to the continuous improvement of governance of all research activities across the NSLHD to ensure compliance with the relevant Hospital & NSLHD policies and procedures, NSW Health Directives and other relevant State and Federal guidelines, regulations and legislations.
  • All staff within the Research Office are expected to work flexibly to achieve urgent priorities as required, under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, Research (COO,R) and the Director of the Kolling Institute.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them
  2. Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent or considerable equivalent experience in a relevant field
  3. Extensive experience and demonstrated understanding of the essential elements to completing a comprehensive research governance review
  4. Demonstrated ability of working with researchers within a hospital environment in conjunction with universities and other government research environments and processes
  5. Demonstrated experience of working with legal documents that require interpretation and drafting as they related to research activities
  6. Demonstrated highly effective communication, interpersonal, team development, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  7. Demonstrated ability to independently and successfully prioritise and manage a very high volume of workload with competing issues, to meet strict deadlines
