The Department of Cardiology is seeking a suitably qualified Registered Nurse to fill the position of Clinical Trials Nurse.

Where you'll be working
The purpose of the Research Nurse/Clinical Trial Coordinator is to work in a team environment, managing a caseload of patients participating in Cardiology Clinical Trials. The position ensures the research is conducted in accordance with protocol, policy, legislation, ethical requirements and guidelines for evidence based clinical practice to achieve high quality data for research.

What you'll be doing

Under supervision of the Principal Investigators plan, the clinical trial nurse will  initiate and conduct clinical research in the Department of Cardiology; assist in planning research meetings and provide reports of clinical research activities;  and contribute to the application for grants and the dissemination of study results.

Employees must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct. Criminal record checks will be undertaken on successful applicants and applicants for positions designated as Category A will be required to obtain required vaccinations prior to commencing employment. 

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:       

  • Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Nurse Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance professional development.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and initiating activities to improve clinical service delivery and patient clinical outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience working with people with heart disease and/or previous experience in Clinical Trials and advanced Venepuncture skills.
  • Competence with word processing, spreadsheets and electronic communication.
  • Ability to conduct interviews, both face to face and over the telephone.
