It plays a prominent role in public health medicine in Australia and has a strong record for training individuals with the capacity and skills to assume leadership roles in Australia in this field. We work closely with the major Monash affiliated hospitals, research institutes and public health units within Victoria. Our skills provide a key resource underpinning translational research within our Faculty.
“A new direction on end of life care? Assessing the impact and outcomes of the Victorian Voluntary Assisted Dying Act”

The project will help ensure that VAD legislation provides adequate protections for those who are most vulnerable. It will thereby contribute significantly to end of life care of people who seek assistance in dying and those who do not, both in Victoria and around the world.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to work on a project titled: “A new direction in end of life care? Assessing the impact and outcomes of the Victorian Voluntary Assisted Dying Act”

Skills
  • an Honours or Master’s degree or equivalent
  • interest and experience in research in some of the following areas: health care, social policy, ethics, health law, sociology (clinical experience could be an advantage but is not essential)
  • ability to conduct research/scholarly activities as a member of a team
  • ability to contribute to study design, analysis and writing
  • ability to conduct qualitative research interviews on delicate topics with appropriate sensitivity, compassion and care
