Senior Ecologist
Location: Redland City, South-east Queensland

Biodiversity Assessment and Management Pty Ltd (BAAM) is one of Queensland’s leading specailist ecological consultancies. Based in Cleveland 30 km south east of Brisbane, BAAM has delivered over 1500 individual projects since 2003 for clients in all sectors including Local, State and Commonwealth governments, mining, gas, infrastructure, industry, urban development and conservation.

We are looking to employ a full time Senior Ecologist with high level ecological skills to complement our team. To be considered for this position you must have a MSc or PhD in ecology or a closely related field, or undergraduate qualifications with at least seven years ecological consulting experience.

It is imperative that you have strong field skills in zoology and/or botany, with well-developed technical writing abilities.

Zoologists will need to be able to survey all vertebrate fauna groups, and have an ability to assess habitat for its value to fauna, especially conservation significant fauna. Botanists will need strong plant identification skills that can be applied across a range of bioregions. Familiarity with the field assessment and survey techniques that are applied to accurately describe and map regional ecosystems and
measure habitat condition will be well-regarded.

All applicants will be expected to have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

BAAM works predominantly in Queensland, therefore applicants with field skills based in other regions will need to demonstrate an ability to quickly transfer their skills.

Although not essential as mentoring will be provided, applied experience with the workings of Queensland environmental legislation would be an advantage.

Flexible working arrangements (part-time, occasional work from home, study leave, etc) will be considered.
