About the opportunity
We are a dynamic multidisciplinary research team with backgrounds in Addiction Medicine, Clinical Psychology, Psychopharmacology and Public Health. Our research investigates the management and treatment of alcohol use disorders and comorbid physical and mental. Our work covers a range of areas including interventions (clinical trials of pharmacotherapy, psychosocial interventions), discovery and mechanisms of addictive behaviours (neuroimaging) and translation into practice
As a Research Assistant you will assist with the coordination of our clinical research of treatments for alcohol use disorder including clinical trials. You will provide support to the Chief Investigators and the multidisciplinary team to support the clinical trial requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing relevant materials in collaboration with our team members, performing fundamental aspects of clinical research and facilitating the efficient operation of our clinical research via staff and patient liaison. In addition to this you will coordinate the activities associated with our clinical research projects and work towards ensuring that experiments (e.g. neuroimaging) are prepared for and run smoothly.

Research at the Discipline of Addiction Medicine, University of Sydney, based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital encompasses a range of multidisciplinary projects including1. Investigating molecular markers of alcohol dependence and response to medication; 2. Novel strategies for the treatment of alcohol dependence. 3. Translation of effective treatments into practice; 4. Neurobehavioural correlates of addictive behaviours and mechanisms of treatment.
