About the opportunity 

We are in a period of exciting and significant investment in our Faculty of Medicine and Health and in order to deliver on the University’s ambitious strategic plan, we are looking for a Contracts and Grants Coordinator to join the Contracts and Grants team at NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre based at Camperdown Campus.

Under the direction of the Business Director, you will be responsible in providing contracts & grants tracking, co-ordination and support for the end-to-end/ lifecycle process of grants and contracts, and all associated business contracts awarded to the NHMRC CTC.

You will work in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and staff, including the Research Development Leads, Functional leads and CTC senior managers; the Clinical Trials Support Office & Research Grants & Contracts staff at the University to manage the co-ordination, tracking and submission of contracts and grants for the NHMRC CTC in accordance with the Agreed Principles.

The CTC’s Contracts and Grants Team, consisting of the Business Manager position and the Contracts and Grants coordinator, and overseen by the CTC Business Director, will work in conjunction with the Research Office, Contracts Manager-Clinical Trials, (CTCM) Clinical Trials Governance (CTG), Office of General Counsel (OGC) to provide input and recommendations regarding establishing CTC’s contracts; completing, reviewing and recommending execution of all contracts. The CTC’s Business Manager consults and liaises with CTC Executive on non-standard contracts to put forward CTC requirements that will underpin instructions, negotiations of commercial terms and legal advice.

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or extensive relevant work experience, preferably in clinical trials project management and/or administration
  • experience in coordinating/administration of contracts, grant proposals, or business contracts, preferably in research intensive/ academic institutions or similar environment
  • broad knowledge of legal/compliance principles related to contracts, grants and other funding submission requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate high level of accuracy and attention to detail along with exceptional communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. They will also be able to prioritise workload during busy periods and meet conflicting deadlines.

The NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC) at the University of Sydney conducts large multicentre investigator-initiated clinical trials, takes part in trials of national and international collaborative trial groups and contributes expertise to trials run by others. Clinical trials conducted by academic research centres adopt different models for managing and conducting clinical trials, which differs from the pharmaceutical industry models and contract research organisations.
