• Fixed Term for 12 months, full-time position, however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated and base salary $84K p.a plus superannuation

About the opportunity 

The Clinical Trials coordinator will provide clinical trial knowledge and expertise to the Clinical Trial Project Manager, Chief Investigators, Research Academics and the clinical trial team to support the trials set-up and conduct of the PATHway Clinical Trial. This trial aims increase function and physical activity in participants that have undergone a total knee replacement due to knee osteoarthritis or lumbar laminectomy for spinal stenosis, by using a program of disruptive devices and health coaching.This position will support the trail through at-home post-operative rehabilitation treatment  and includes actively contributing to clinical trial activities, through coordination of core activities and contributing to data collection, with special focus on engaging with hospitals sites and staff and recruiting participants across NSW.

• tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline with relevant experience in the related therapeutic field. A background in clinical trial data entry and data management, education in health or a health-related field and an understanding and working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice
• extensive experience in developing and working on clinical trial projects, including expertise in using clinical trial protocols, experimental design, ethics submissions and grant applications. Including sound knowledge of International Conference on Harmonisation Good Clinical Practice
• experience in a clinical / laboratory setting
• patient-facing experience ideally in a health setting will be highly regarded, along with knowledge and an interest in bone and joint research
• current driver’s license and willingness and ability to travel to study sites.

The successful candidate will also have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work.

The position will be located within the Institute of Bone and Joint Research group (IBJR), a vibrant and growing team of senior academics, professional/ postdoctoral researchers and postgraduate students at the Kolling Institute, Royal North Shore Hospital campus at St Leonards, Sydney. The Rheumatology Department is devoted to advancing the understanding of the disorders and diseases of the musculoskeletal system, their diagnosis and treatments.
