About the opportunity 

We wish to enhance our established research and teaching programs with an appointment of a Lecturer (Academic Level B). We are seeking to appoint a highly-motivated occupational therapist keen to grow their academic career in a research-intensive environment where development of occupational therapy leaders through excellent teaching high quality research supervision and contribution to research are priorities.

There will be opportunities to contribute to curriculum development and innovation at unit and course levels to enhance the reputation and reach of our occupational therapy graduates nationally and internationally in health, disability, human service and other sectors.

There will be opportunities to pursue disciplinary, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research as collaborator and leader within the Discipline of Occupational Therapy, the Faculty of Health Sciences, throughout the University of Sydney, and with international partners.

The Discipline of Occupational Therapy, currently located at the Cumberland Campus Lidcombe, will be relocating to the Camperdown Campus in future years as part of the University of Sydney restructure and expansion of the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

In this role you will:

• teach into undergraduate and postgraduate entry-level courses in occupational therapy, take on responsibility for unit of study coordination and contribute to curriculum development
• pursue a research program that aligns with the Faculty’s research strengths including grant acquisition and research dissemination through peer-reviewed presentations and publications
• recruit and supervise postgraduate research students
• contribute to administrative aspects of teaching and research.

To succeed in securing this role, you will have:

• a PhD in a field relevant to occupational therapy or have evidence of meeting the requirements of PhD.  (Applicants who have submitted their PhD for examination will be considered but will not be appointable at Level B)
• practice expertise in any area of occupational therapy but preference will be given to neuro-rehabilitation or assistive technology expertise (desirable)
• a record of journal publications and scientific conference presentations
• excellent English language communication skills and demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
• eligibility to apply for registration as an occupational therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
• experience in research-led teaching of occupational therapy at the tertiary level (desirable)
• experience with research student supervision (desirable)
• previous experience in occupational therapy curriculum development (desirable).
