About the opportunity
Reporting to AMME Workshop Manager, the Biomedical Engineering Technical Officer will be responsible for supporting the Biomedical Engineering research and teaching labs in the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering. The School of AMME supports Biomedical Engineering research across many disciplines, including biomaterials, implant design, biomechanics and biomedical imaging. The School also boasts strong links with industry in Australia and overseas, including the recently launched ARC Industry Transformation Training Centre in Innovative BioEngineering.

The School of Aerospace Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering (AMME), is one of Australia’s leading research and teaching Engineering Schools, with degree programs in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Aeronautical, Space, and Biomedical Engineering. The School has a student body of over 2000 students and has seen strong growth in demand for teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The School supports teaching and research activities across disciplines including aerospace, biomedical, combustion, design, materials, mechanical, mechatronic and robotics engineering. Our Biomedical program has grown from a minor in Mechanical Engineering to become one of our most popular degree streams across the Faculty. We have existing research strengths in the areas of biomaterials, implant design, biomechanics and biomedical imaging, with close connections to the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Charles Perkins Centre, the Brain and Mind Institute, the Bosch and Kolling Centres and the Sydney Nano Institute.
