About the opportunity 

The Senior Research Officer will support the Clinical Chair of Infection Prevention and Control to lead, facilitate and evaluate the outcomes of high quality clinical research in infectious diseases and in infection prevention and control between Sydney Nursing School (SNS) at the University of Sydney and the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). Working with the Clinical Chair and an established team of researchers and clinicians, the Senior Research Officer will conduct and collaboratively support clinical research activities within the scope of the WSLHD and SNS strategic directions for infection prevention and control and associated disciplines.

  • tertiary qualifications in epidemiology, nursing, psychology, public health, or medical and health sciences with Honours in appropriate discipline with relevant experience in related field
  • have, or be working towards, a higher degree by research qualification such as PhD or have extensive specialist experience in the field of research
  • extensive experience in developing and managing research projects including expertise study management, experimental design, grant applications, ethics submissions, data collection and management, and reporting
  • financial management experience and literacy, experience managing budgets and controlling income and expenditure
  • demonstrated advanced data management and analytic skills including in using statistical and other analysis tools
  • research publication record including in conducting scientific literary searches and systematic reviews.

The Senior Research Officer requires excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills.
