About the opportunity 

The Research Administration Officer will provide research, administrative and operational support to the Clinical Chair of Infection Prevention and Control who leads, facilitates and evaluates the outcomes of high quality clinical research in infectious diseases and in infection prevention and control between Sydney Nursing School (SNS) at the University of Sydney and the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). This includes office management, coordinating grant applications and submissions, preparing compliance reporting and storing data that is collected from research project for further analysis. They may be required to help with research work and experiments being undertaken, or monitor routine aspects of the research or source information to aid research work.

  • tertiary qualifications in epidemiology, nursing, psychology, public health, or medical and health sciences with Honours in appropriate discipline with relevant experience in related field
  • Have, or be working towards, a postgraduate or higher degree by research qualification or have extensive specialist experience in the field of research
  • extensive experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, experimental design, ethics submissions, grant applications, data collection and management, and reporting
  • experience in carrying out scientific literary searches, and preparing literary reviews for further analysis
  • strong numeracy skills including in controlling income/expenditure for reconciliation/budget tracking, and managing invoice payments and purchases
  • experience in data management and analysis, including in using statistical analysis tools and reporting on research findings
  • working understanding of relevant aspects of the Work Health and Safety Policy and relevant legislation, including Safe Laboratory Practices, as applicable to the work environment.

The Research Administration Officer requires excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills.
