About the opportunity 

An opportunity has become available for an Associate Director, Institutional Planning within the Institutional Analytics and Planning (IAP) School. 

The Associate Director, Institutional Planning is a senior leadership role within Institutional Analytics and Planning (IAP). This role is responsible for the management of the planning cycle of the University of Sydney (student budget targets, new course proposals and student tuition fees), internal and external reporting and statutory compliance (government department reporting, Go8 benchmarking data and QILT student data) advises on government policy and the Higher Education regulatory framework (funding agreements, compacts and pricing) and performs benchmarking, research and policy analysis to ensure the University meets its operational responsibilities and strategic goals.

The Associate Director leads a service focused team to support integrated University wide planning and reporting. This role is client and outcomes focussed, with a need to engage closely with senior executives, committees and the wider University community in order to provide information, analysis and advice across a broad range of areas, to support their current and emerging goals. This is also a key role within the university in terms of integration and transformation of data from major source systems into meaningful management information.

The position has major responsibility for the cycle of reporting required under the Higher Education Support Act 2003, from the detailed forecasting calculations underlying the University’s Funding Agreement with the Department of Education to the student and staff submissions required as a condition for Commonwealth Grant Scheme and Research Block Grant funding, and related compliance management.

This position applies extensive professional experience in the provision of strategic advice, insightful performance analysis and management reporting, process improvement and change management and direct support to the Director, Institutional Analytics and Planning.
