About the opportunity 

The role of the Program Manager is to deliver program management services in partnership with executive Sponsors and their project leads to complex programs requiring multiple streams of work aimed at achieving a common set of outcomes. In this role you will be required to support the initiatives and projects as assigned in order to initiate, manage, deliver and close out projects using a common repeatable methodology.

This is a “hands-on” role which is responsible for delivering program & project management of the highest quality.

  • Managing and developing the design and implementation of the overarching program work plan, identifying and managing inter-dependencies and enablers, and the sequence and phasing of the program plan required to meet objectives within set budget parameters.Providing leadership and expert guidance to project leaders throughout the design and development of project plans,
  • Advising on and develops program governance and reporting procedures to monitor and control progress.Manages program stakeholders and collaborates with project teams to ensure that deliverables and milestones are achieved
  • Manages project financials against budget and coordinates external funding opportunities

The Office of the Vice-Principal (Strategy) is responsible for driving the strategic agenda across the University, including providing analysis, insight, and high-level advice to the Vice-Chancellor and Principal and the SEG on key strategic issues and opportunities. The Office instigates and facilitates strategic dialogue across the University to inform the development of strategy and planning, and to drive collaboration, partnerships and opportunities for the University. The Office leads the design and development of the University’s strategic planning process and the related performance monitoring and implementation. The Portfolio incorporates the Strategy Office and the Program Management Office (PMO).

The Program Management Office (PMO) has been created to work within a strategic context and alongside business (Portfolios, Faculties and Schools and Professional Service Units) in building & deploying effective program management capability. The PMO is responsible for project and program management quality, the responsibility for project and program success resides with the Executive sponsor(s) of the programs and initiatives being implemented. The PMO develops and delivers a range of services within the key focus areas of tracking and reporting, capability development and project and organisational change management. The PMO also maintains a pool of resources in each capability area for deployment in partnership with the project owners to deliver quality management.
