About the opportunity
Reporting to Professor Peter Thorn, you will provide technical and operational support to the research team. The position is based in the Charles Perkins Centre with modern laboratory facilities and work environment. The laboratories in the team apply diverse techniques including cell isolation and culture, imaging, biochemical assays, tissue engineering and advanced surface treatments.
The position duties include preparing relevant materials in collaboration with team members, performing fundamental aspects of research work, and facilitating the efficient operation of the research laboratory by providing essential technical and operational support. You will be expected to have theoretical knowledge at degree level to coordinate the activities associated with research projects, and work towards ensuring that experiments/etc. are prepared for and run smoothly. When working in a laboratory, your duties may also include responsibility for any lab work carried out by students, and preparing equipment for experiments that are carried out.
The research project centers on studying the control of insulin secretion and aims to apply the knowledge gained to innovative approaches to cure type 1 diabetes.
