About the opportunity

Musculoskeletal Health Sydney is part of the University of Sydney's School of Public Health and is based at the Sydney Local Health District. Our focus is the promotion of musculoskeletal health and physical activity across the lifespan. Our vision is for better musculoskeletal health through healthy lifestyles and equitable access to patient-centred, evidence-based, and cost-effective health services. We have active collaborations with a wide range of multidisciplinary clinicians, researchers, and policy makers in Australia and internationally.

The Research Support Assistant will provide administrative and research support to the OPAL study, as well as support other musculoskeletal studies as required. The OPAL study is an NHMRC funded clinical trial of an opioid analgesic for lower back pain.

As the successful applicant, you will support the OPAL study research project by conducting assessments, contacting participants, performing data analysis, filing, assisting with the study tracking and performing other research support related activities.

  • tertiary qualifications in appropriate discipline and/or relevant experience
  • previous experience in musculoskeletal health
  • knowledge of research work design, implementation and recruitment of participants
  • experience in conducting and reporting on research projects particularly in an academic environment
  • well-developed analytical skills, a genuine passion for public health, a keen eye for detail and an ongoing commitment to accuracy
  • advanced communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • the ability to provide administrative support in a complex and challenging environment.
