About the opportunity 

The Vice-Principal (Strategy) is responsible for driving the strategic agenda across the University, including providing analysis, insight, and high-level advice to the Vice-Chancellor and Principal and the University Executive on key strategic issues and opportunities. The Office instigates and facilitates strategic dialogue across the University to inform the development of strategy and planning, and to drive collaboration, partnerships and opportunities for the University. The Office leads the design and development of the University’s strategic planning process and the related performance monitoring and implementation. The Portfolio incorporates the Strategic Planning Office and the Program Management Office (PMO).

Reporting to the Vice-Principal (Strategy), you will be responsible for providing leadership of strategic planning activity, the progress of the implementation of the University strategy and performance monitoring and review. You will lead a team of professionals that coordinate reporting requirements, conduct quantitative and qualitative assessment of institutional performance through a set of KPIs and lead indicators, and design plans and processes and supporting research and analytics for institution-wide strategic planning, consultation and engagement.

About you

You will have extensive experience in developing and implementing strategic plans in a complex organisation, preferably in a university context, together with business analysis skills or strategy/operations consulting experience. You will oversee research and analytics capability whilst providing advice to the Vice-Principal (Strategy) on any matters relating to strategic planning and related policies. Essential to the role are superior skills in developing and maintaining senior stakeholder relationships across client portfolios to develop a deep understanding of their needs and requirements as it relates to strategic planning. You will have strong skills in the delivery of high-level services to a broad client and peer group.

Overall this is a complex role leading project teams, working cross-functionally and exercising independent judgement and significant decision-making autonomy.  To succeed you will demonstrate strong business acumen and expertise in the development of planning and performance reporting techniques, standards and measurements.
