About the opportunity 

The NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC) is a leader in clinical trials research in Australia, coordinating its own and assisting others in conducting various multi-centre clinical trials and promoting evidence-based medicine in Australia.

Opportunities now exist for suitably qualified and experienced staff to join the Centre and contribute to clinical trials research. The Project Manager is responsible for providing managerial and research services related to the conduct of Health Technology Assessments for the Health Care Assessment Team and the CTC. The Project Officer is responsible for undertaking Health Technology Assessments, and in the identification of clinical trials research for the Health Care Assessment Team and the CTC.

We are looking for a Project Officer (HEO 7) who possesses:

  • A degree qualification in epidemiology, public health, economic evaluation or similar OR working towards post-graduate qualifications with equivalent extensive experience
  • Previous experience undertaking economic evaluations of new technologies including costing, decision analysis, economic modelling
  • Thorough knowledge of evidence-based health care concepts
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including influencing skills in relation to making recommendations to a wide variety of stakeholders in a complex environment
  • Advanced computer literacy skills.

The Project Manager (HEO 8), in addition to the above will have:

  • Well-developed leadership and managerial skills and experience working strategically with key staff and stakeholders
  • Ability to work autonomously, and demonstrate sound judgment making decisions and recommendations where diverse interests are present
  • Strong numeracy skills including accountability for budget management
  • Experience in or knowledge of the design and conduct of decision analysis.
