  • Part time fixed term 3 days per week for 12 months
  • Remuneration package: $97K which includes base salary, leave loading and 17% superannuation

About the opportunity 

The Biobank Officer will be responsible for all work associated with the Nepean Cancer Research Biobank, including the collection of specimens, recruitment of participants, clinical data collection, and laboratory and administrative duties that support research activities of the SW-TCRC. The Biobank Officer will assist in initiating new biobanking activities at Nepean Hospital and maintain current and future collections held within the Biobank

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in biological or medical science with relevant experience in handling and processing of biological samples.
  • Keen attention to detail and experience and awareness of issues related to dealing with confidential patient information
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to priortise workload during busy periods
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate with all levels of health care team, researchers and patients and experience

Familiarity with biobanking based techniques including immunohistochemistry and clinical data collection and/or experience preparing ethics submissions would be highly regarded.
