About the opportunity 
Working closely with the Head, Partner Engagement and Outreach and the Heads of School, you will be responsible for designing and developing content and programs to promote the School of Mathematics & Statistics, School of Psychology and science more broadly. You will liaise with relevant academics and professional staff and act as an information conduit between the Partner Engagement & Outreach Unit and the Schools within the Faculty and vice versa. In this role you will also manage the delivery of workshops to high school students and teachers, current students and members of the general public as part of Science Alliance.

In this position, you will:

  • Design, develop and implement highly professional programs and materials that are closely aligned with syllabus documents and the needs of students and teachers
  • Provide relevant external content for the Schools of Mathematics and Statistics and Psychology websites
  • Recruit, trains and supervises casual staff involved in the School’s science communication programs
  • Participate as an active member of the Science Communication network

To be considered, you will possess:

  • Demonstrated strong project planning and time management skills in the context of multiple concurrent projects; demonstrated strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to develop and implement professional science programs (specifically relating to mathematics) for audiences at all levels including primary and high school students and the general public.
  • Strong understanding of core mathematics and statistics concepts at a high level and the ability to understand specialised research activities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a small team
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing work methods
  • High level oral and written communication, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders both internal and external
  • Experience in science education, outreach and/or communication
