About the opportunity 

The Dr Liang Voice Program (DLVP) is a newly established, world-class research and training program in the field of laryngeal and voice disorders at the University of Sydney. The Program integrates research, training and education and clinical treatment into a comprehensive model that aims to deliver best-practice treatment to patients. The program runs across two Faculties: Health Sciences and Medicine. Co-Directed by Dr Cate Madill (Speech Pathologist) and Dr Daniel Novakovic (ENT Surgeon & Laryngologist), the charter of the program is to conduct world-leading:

i. Research on disorders of the voice and larynx and their treatment

ii.Post-graduate education and training in speech pathology relating to treatment of laryngeal disorders;

iii. Post graduate fellowship education and training in surgery relating to treatment of laryngeal disorders;

iv. Translation of best practice in laryngology and voice assessment and treatment to overseas Universities with whom Memorandum of Understanding in full have been established.

The successful candidate will provide technical and operational support to the Co-Directors, Senior Research Officer and the team to support the research activity and/or clinical trial requirements for the DLVP. This includes preparing relevant materials in collaboration with team members, performing fundamental aspects of research work, and facilitating the efficient operation of the research laboratory by providing essential technical and operational support. You will be expected to coordinate the activities associated with research projects, and work towards ensuring that experiments are prepared for and run smoothly. When working in a laboratory, this may also include responsibility for any lab work carried out by students, provides teaching support (in terms of demonstrations in tutorials/practicals) and prepares equipment for experiments that are carried out.

• Tertiary qualifications in appropriate discipline and/or relevant experience in related field. May have or be working towards postgraduate qualifications
• Extensive experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, experimental design, ethics submissions and grant applications
• Experience in carrying out scientific literary searches, and preparing literary reviews for further analysis
• Advanced skills data analysis, using statistical analysis tools, and reporting on research findings
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills.
