The Australian Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis  is a node and headquarters of the Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Research Facility (AMMRF) and currently has an outstanding new opportunity available for a results-driven Atom Probe Scientist. This role is your opportunity to support users conducting specialised research using state-of-the-art atom probe microscopy techniques to enable the design of new materials. Located on the University’s Camperdown Campus, the centre hosts world-class facilities, and is renowned for its research excellence. As the successful appointee you will be involved in a portfolio of research projects. This includes leading your own research project and also providing collaborative research support to the impressive and diverse community users of the LEAP3000 and LEAP4000 instruments, which are AMMRF flagship instruments (and therefore form an important part of a national user facility). The will be a new opportunity to utilise a vacuum/cryo transfer solution that operates between FIB, a glove box and the atom probe. The research and the user support provided will primarily be fundamental in nature and seek to develop understanding and strategies that can expand the property-performance space of various engineering materials.

This position is AMMRF-funded and will report directly to the Sydney Node Director and CEO, Professor Julie Cairney. In this role you will be required to work closely with a variety of technical, academic, research and administrative staff and users of the AMMRF. This position represents an excellent opportunity to develop your research career alongside international experts in the field.

Remuneration package: Academic Level A: $103,823 p.a to $111,447 p.a. (which includes a base salary of $87,731 p.a. to $94,174, leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
