The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies is well positioned within Australia and worldwide, consistently ranked in the top 50 engineering and technology universities in the world. We will continue to bring our renowned capability to focus on key emerging local, national and global research and teaching questions and issues, such as sustainability, energy and bioengineering. The School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering was established in 1946 as Australia’s first tertiary program in this field. Today, the school is research intensive, with a strong synergy between research and teaching.

The school aims at “creating resources and technologies to transform the world”. Our researchers engage with leading industry, government, community and research partners to find practical ways of addressing important local, national and global issues related to food, energy, health, water and the environment.

We are seeking candidates with an outstanding record of research and scholarship with proven and substantial research expertise in one or more of the following areas of the school’s current interests and activities: chemical and process innovation; food industry transformation; biomolecular and cellular engineering; carbon neutral futures; water, resources and the environment.

You will be expected to lead and develop your respective research area involving academic and industry partners, and the supervision of research students. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of innovative academic experiences at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; candidates who can contribute to curriculum development for process engineering, design and sustainability are particularly encouraged to apply. As the school is committed to increasing its research output and increasing the number of research students, you should be able to demonstrate a commitment to high standards of teaching and to the development and maintenance of academic standards in a broadly-based chemical and biomolecular engineering school.

Term

The successful candidate will be offered a continuing appointment on a full-time basis, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
