The Research in Implementation Science and eHealth Group (RISe) is a new unit within the Faculty of Health Sciences that carries out research and development projects. The Unit has a diverse portfolio of projects, clients and partners including Sydney Medical School and other University units, government agencies and professional associations.

RISe has been commissioned to assist the Cancer Institute NSW to develop lung cancer pathways in NSW through working with Cancer Service Innovation Managers across NSW. This project is part of a larger program of work delivered by RISe and the Sydney Catalyst Translational Cancer Research Centre based in the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. The project officer will be joining a research team investigating how to improve outcomes for cancer patients.

We are currently seeking a Project Officer who will be responsible for coordinating the Cancer Institute NSW Lung Cancer Pathway Project. The Project Officer will work closely with the project lead, Professor Tim Shaw, to plan, implement and monitor the project. They will also liaise closely with Cancer Institute personnel and members of Sydney Catalyst.

You will require:

  • demonstrated experience in implementing projects
  • demonstrated strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks concurrently with attention to detail
  • demonstrated ability to determine priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate and liaise with a diverse range of people and build effective working relationships
  • evidence of well-developed written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare a wide range of written material including: reports, meeting notes, email and other correspondence
  • demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and work under broad direction
  • basic research skills eg online searching of web sites and the literature and collating information from a variety of sources
  • high level computer literacy including proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • relevant tertiary qualification and subsequent experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.

Desirable:

  • experience in health services or qualitative research
  • experience in a health or health environment or related projects.
