The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Officer, Horticulture Pathology to be part of our South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) Division within PIRSA. The role reports to the Senior Research Scientist, Horticulture Pathology.

The Senior Research Officer, Horticulture Pathology is responsible for developing effective research projects to improve the production of horticultural and viticultural crops in southern Australia. The incumbent will build effective working relationships with key stakeholders and will consult and liaise with relevant PIRSA staff, industry sectors and the community. The Senior Research Officer will provide plant pathology advice to support diagnostic testing of horticultural crops (including wine grapes) and Biosecurity SA requests, and assist with advice for chemical registration and minor use permits. In this role, the Senior Research Officer will supervise technical and casual staff working in the laboratory, greenhouse and field.

Special Conditions

This is a contract / term vacancy up to 31/08/2021. Possession of a current driver’s licence and a willingness to drive is required. Out of hours work may be required on occasion.

Requirements

A degree in Science, Agricultural Science or related discipline is required. A post graduate qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
