An exciting opportunity exists to play a key role in low rainfall - agricultural research and development on Eyre Peninsula.

Primary Industries and Regions SA, as a key economic development agency of the South Australian Government, works across a diverse range of industry sectors including agriculture, livestock, forestry, fishing and aquaculture and regional development. We involve and engage with others to ensure we make good decisions, have clear policies, plan and implement effective programs, drive relevant projects, promote efficient resource use and broker shared responsibility. In this way we enable the State’s primary industry sectors and regions to remain competitive, productive and sustainable.

The Research Scientist, New Variety Agronomy and Farming Systems will lead and manage the new variety agronomy and farming systems research and development team based at the Minnipa Agricultural Centre. They will conduct high level, collaborative research on low rainfall farming systems and new variety agronomy issues of high priority. The Research Scientist will contribute to SARDI’s role of leading and conducting innovative, low rainfall farming systems and crop agronomy research and development.

Salary:

$85,691 - $90,886 per annum, PO3

Essential Qualifications:

The applicant must have a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture or equivalent.

Special Conditions:

This is a contract position for 5 years with a possible extension subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds. Interstate and intrastate travel and some out of hours work, weekend and public holidays travel will be required. A current driver’s licence is essential.
