South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) provides research and development services to the state government, commercial clients and research partners to help make South Australia's primary industries and regions internationally competitive and ecologically sustainable. SARDI's programs are designed to increase the productivity, sustainability and adaptability of the state's agriculture, food and wine, fisheries and aquaculture and bioscience enterprises, create opportunities for market growth, address barriers to growth and provide applied solutions. 

The Research Scientist, New Variety Agronomy is expected to work effectively across science programs and research divisions to provide leadership and undertake research that is multidisciplinary and adopts a systems approach to the research. The Research Scientist, New Variety Agronomy is responsible for fostering and enhancing research and development outcomes which will contribute to SARDI's role of leading and conducting innovative, agronomic research in cereal agronomy and physiology. The ultimate aim is to enhance economic growth of cereal based primary industries, sustain natural resources, improve food quality and enhance safety for the people of South Australia.

SALARY:
$87,833 - $93,158 per annum, PO3 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The applicant must have a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture or equivalent. 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
This is a temporary / term vacancy up to 60 months with a possible extension subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds. Interstate and intrastate travel and some out of hours work, weekend and public holidays travel will be required. A current Class C driver's licence is essential. Use of common agriculture chemicals is required and a Chemcert chemical handler's certificate or a willingness to obtain one is essential. This position involves field work and exposure to dust and pollen.
