About the Position
The Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow will conduct research activities within an Australian Research Council Linkage grant in collaboration with the Mainstream Aquaculture Group at JCU. The project focuses on elucidating the genetic basis of the rare gold skin coloration phenotype in barramundi; and how to manipulate this phenotype in a commercial setting to increase its prevalence. Under the direction of the Project Leader, the incumbent will perform molecular genetic approaches based on next generation transcriptomic and DNA methylation technologies, and supervise laboratory trials involving rearing fish under different environments and knockdown of specific pigmentation genes.

What you will bring to the position
As an experienced researcher, you will possess a PhD qualification in Genetics with a focus on molecular technologies and/or a minimum three years working in a molecular DNA laboratory. You will also be experienced with working in research projects and have specific skills in working with next generation sequencing techniques including RNAseg, general molecular biology techniques, and analysing complex genetic datasets.
