The University of Melbourne has become the first Australian University to join the research news website Futurity.

The website, which includes university members from the UK, US and Canada, publishes the latest findings in science, technology, health, society and the environment by researchers from over 60 of the world’s top universities.

"This expansion allows Futurity to offer a more global view of research. We are excited to welcome the University of Melbourne and look forward to showcasing the great work of Australia's leading scientists and scholars,” said Jenny Leonard, Futurity’s editor.

University of Melbourne Media and PR Director Diane Squires said the University of Melbourne was delighted to join leading universities around the world in highlighting research excellence through Futurity.

“Futurity provides a unique platform to enable us to reach broad audiences around the world to highlight the outcomes of research initiatives and keep the community informed about the latest advances,” Ms Squires said.

“The University of Melbourne is known for rigorous standards and excellence. This partnership allows Futurity to aggregate today’s most salient research and to deliver that news to a global audience," said Michael Schoenfeld, a Futurity cofounder and vice president for public affairs and government relations at Duke University.
